Speculative Is Not a Synonym For Untrue

April 11, 2006 | Governance | Nature & Environment | People & Society

Billmon conducts a thought experiment.

Maybe it's just me, but I've been at least a little bit surprised by the relatively muted reaction to the news that the Cheney Administration and its Pentagon underlings are racing to put the finishing touches on plans for attacking Iran – plans which may include the first wartime use of nuclear weapons since Nagasaki.
I mean, what exactly does it take to get a rise out of the media industrial complex these days? A nuclear first strike against a major Middle Eastern oil producer doesn't ring the bell?

3,400 words of truth.

Thanks for this link...I find it fascinating that some people are so ambivalent about this potentiality.

They've got us right where they want us: a) everyone too busy with work and worried about economics (and leveraged with consumer debt); b) lifestyle aspirations and escapism to compensate for (a); c) gutting the educational system means that overall comprehension is down.

Can you do me a favor? Get yourself situated in a nice big house (it can be run down, it just needs lots of bedrooms) so when all your blogger friends want to move to Canada we have a place to go! ;)

That's spot on...a sad, but accurate analysis of what ails contemporary society.

(Of course you're all welcome should you ever be in need of a safe place here in Canada...although I'm not far from the border so who knows about fall-out! Failing that, welcome to Australia?! :P)
