cmd-tab

July 20, 2006 | Life | Software

Trivial Mac tip: I just figured out cmd-tab for application switching. It's great. The default selection is the last app you used, so it's easy to switch back and forth between two apps. You can arrow between any open apps, but the UI design to order them based on recency is brilliant.

And identical to the way Windows does it. (Alt-Tab, in that case). I wonder who thought of it first.

Not to defend Windoze at all. My next machine will be a Mac!

I wondered if Windows did it that way too. I remember it as the order apps were opened, but I wasn't in the office to check. Not that I really would have done research for a blog entry! I've rarely used app switching via keyboard, but it's highly productive when working quickly.
